I think you’re talking about apples and oranges right now.  Apples being the girls in the photo and oranges being the girls at your school.  Misplaced anger you know?

Again there’s a privilege ladder.  Thin white women are much higher up than you and I and I do have my own white privilege so I make a point to stay cognizant of that myself

BUT we’re going much deeper than I personally think that picture deserves.

AND if you want to see more fat people of color spreading messages like that

MAKE IT YOURSELF!!!

We need to start making the things we wish we were seeing.  We need to stop complaining and TAKE ACTION

but please, whatever we do, we cannot punish those who want to be genuine allies. Its so hurtful to what we’re trying to do here.

Its very common when you’re first coming into body acceptance to be angry and to feel misunderstood by thin white women but I think it high time we let go of our anger and WORK TOGETHER.  Just because those girls are thin and white doesn’t mean they haven’t been told by a fucked society that there’s something wrong with them, that in order to be of any value they must STAY thin or that they too see what us fatties have to deal with and WANT TO HELP.

There’s absolutely no point in getting angry with that photo.  Its a waste of our precious time.  

Treating thin folks as if they’ll never understand us and don’t deserve to be part of the dialogue is just as hurtful and useless as thin people telling us we’re below them.  Its counterproductive.

There IS such a thing as Thin Privilege and White Privilege and I’m not denying that for a second.  My point is that we’ll keep ourself landlocked if we can’t learn to involve all bodies in this dialogue and allow everyone the right to say “this is fucked up what we do to bodies”

I know you’re angry and I know you’re still hurting but its not those three girls’ fault.  Fat people hating their bodies is not the direct result of any one thin person.  Think bigger, go deeper you know? It started well before them and if we’re going to fix ANYTHING we need to be talking about this on a broader, more constructive level and not personal attacks on three girls who just want to be allies.
